Plexidor Household Door Pet Door - Key Features
Versatile, Installs Through Any Kind of Household Door Material Door units were designed to install into any kind of standard household doors made wood, fiberglass, steel and even glass (*Note: glass installations generally require special glass to be cut by a glazier).
Easiest Door for Any Pet, Big or Small PlexiDor Performance see-through K9 composite panels swing open from the sides like old style saloon doors. They are uniquely designed to open very easily with a gentle push, making it the best pet door for homes with tiny and/or large pets. The panels then quietly swing closed by themselves, thanks to built-in heavy duty springs so your pets will never get scared.
Built to Last The panels are made from a special K9 composite which resists damage from sunlight, extreme temperature, and heavy impact. Both exterior and interior frames are made from a heavy duty anodized aluminum, which is durable enough to prevent rust, bending, cracking, and warping. The corners are reinforced to keep their shapes even after years of heavy use. This is all backed by a 10 Year Warranty.
Best Looking Pet Door for Any Home The frames also come in three beautiful finishes that look great in any home. This includes a baked-on white or bronze, or an anodized silver (a similar finish to stainless steel appliances in your home).
Highest Energy Efficiency to Save on Energy Bills Each PlexiDor is made of dual thermo-pane panels, which are also lined with a high-density, nylon pile weather seal. This industrial-grade seal wraps tightly around all four edges for superior draft control. This means that no matter where you are in the United States, in the middle of a winter blizzard or desert heat wave, your Plexidor is there saving you money.
Extra Secure to Keep Your Dog In, and Unwanted Critters Out For everyday use, the medium, large, and XL size PlexiDors have a key lock, while the small size has a 4-way manual lock. For extended periods away from home, sizes Medium and up also include a heavy duty 20-gauge steel locking security plate cover that fastens to the inside of the pet door with four bolts for a very secure lock.
Keeps Water Out Each wall unit includes a sturdy anondized aluminum tunnel to connect the interior and exterior frames. Unlike cheaper pet doors, the unique design of the Plexidor tunnel is slopes outward to keep water out.
Proudly manufactured in the USA!
EXTRA Protection from the Elements (Optional) The PlexiDor Awning(sold separately) can be added to any PlexiDor. Not only does it prevent rain, sun, snow and wind from entering through the pet door, it makes the door quieter and easier to use in harsh weather conditions.
Plexidor Door Mounted Pet Doors - Sizing Information
Need help finding the best size?Call or e-mail us and we'll help you find the right size for your cat or dog!
We recommend using our max weight to determine the best pet door size. However, if your cat or dog is right at arecommended maximum weight, then it would be best to measure them from the ground to the top of the shoulders. If you are measuring, it is important to keep in mind the following:
Cats and dogs will both duck their heads and lift their feet to go through a door.
For homes with large and small pets, a PlexioDor will open easily enough for smaller pets to use larger pet doors.
Almost every door will be installed a few inches above ground level. Generally this is anywhere 2" to 14" depending on the height of the smallest cats/dogs is.
With this in mind, it is best to make sure that the top of the Opening Dimensions are about 2" above the the shoulders of your largest dog.
*Note: The Inside Rough Cut Hole will be a slightly smaller dimension than the outside.

We recommend the “Cardboard Test” to ensure correct size for your pet. Using the OPENING SIZE measurement in the charts, cut a hole in a piece of cardboard, and see if your pet can pass through easily. Or wedge open a house door the OPENING WIDTH, and block off the OPENING HEIGHT (starting just above your pet’s shoulder) and call your pet through. Pets duck their heads as they push open their doggie door or cat door and step through it, so ideally you should install the dog or cat door with the top of the opening just above your pet’s shoulder. But any position will do as long as your dog or cat can open the door and get through comfortably.
Is there any danger to a dog that may pull back when just his head is out? My concern is that on occasion, my dog sticks his head out the door then quickly pulls it back in. He does this if the neighbors dog barks at him as he's going out. Since the flaps are rigid, I'm worried about his head or neck getting pinched. Thank you.
What are the differences between a vinyl flap door and a PlexiDor Performance Pet Door? Vinyl flap doors (“mud flaps”) require replacement of the flap when they wear out, sometimes once or twice a year. The flap may turn yellow, dry out or crack and eventually fall apart. Some dogs will chew the flap. Vinyl replacement flaps cost anywhere from $10 to $100 depending on the size and manufacturer. Most flap doors use magnets to attach the flap to the plastic frame. If the flap shrinks from UV sunlight, the magnets may not connect and seal the opening properly, which will increase the cost of heating and cooling your home.
Will a pet door compromise the security of our home? PlexiDor comes equipped with a lock and 2 keys plus a steel security plate. You can lock the door from the inside whenever you like and attach the steel security plate when leaving your home for extended period. The interior and exterior frame of the PlexiDor is hardened aluminum. This adds strength to the entire design and makes it virtually impossible for an intruder to get past. The small PlexiDor unit for cats and small dogs up to 9 pounds does not come with a security plate since the opening is too small for an intruder to get through.
Is it difficult to train my pet to use a pet door? No. It is usually a quick and easy process. Most cats and dogs learn to use a pet door in 5 seconds to 5 days. Do not push the pet through the door. Start with propping a panel open and coaxing the pet with a treat.
Can my cat use a dog door? Yes, most cats will use up to a large PlexiDor. You may need to go up in size to keep the top of the pet door high enough for the dog – shoulder height – and the bottom low enough for the cat (approximately 5”).
Do you have a pet door that will let my dog out and keep the cats in? The PlexiDor electronic pet door opens only for pets with a key. There is, however, no guarantee that a cat won’t run out together with the dog. Thus, we cannot promise that our pet door will let the dog out and keep the cats in.
Can I paint my PlexiDor? Yes. Just prime and paint the pet door.
What kind of warranty does PlexiDor come with? PlexiDor pet doors come with a 5 year warranty.
Will I ever need to replace anything on a PlexiDor pet door? About every 5 to 8 years the industrial weather seal will need to be replaced. One kit will cover both saloon style panels, and it is easy to install. PlexiDor is manufactured in Bradenton, FL, and if you ever have a problem with the door, it is easy to obtain replacement parts.
Where can I install a PlexiDor pet door? PlexiDor pet doors can be installed in doors, walls, or a sliding glass patio panel. Wall units can be installed in a wall up to 12 inches thick and come with an aluminum tunnel kit that connects the interior and exterior frame. Chances are if you already own another brand of pet door, the existing cut opening can be used to install a PlexiDor with only minor modification.

LTL FREIGHT SHIPPING INFORMATION
LTL (less-than-truckload) Freight is used when shipments are 120 lb+ or for oversized equipment, which results in a truck with a large container delivering your order. Our freight carrier will contact you once your order makes it to the distribution center closest to the delivery address specified, and set up an appointment time for delivery.
Pet Pro Supply Co. Free LTL Freight Shipping - Curbside Delivery
Our standard Free Freight Shipping option for LTL deliveries is curbside, which is to a delivery to a Commercial Address and does not include a liftgate. If your order is to be shipped freight, you will have the option to specify whether the item will be delivered to a Residential, Limited Access, or Commercial address. If there is no option to select a shipping location, then this cost is already included in the price.
We strongly recommend adding the optional Liftgate for all deliveries to locations without a loading dock or forklift.
Freight Delivery Locations
This option specifies whether the delivery location is a Commercial, Residential, Residential Business, or a Limited Access address.
Commercial - These addresses are those defined by our freight carriers and/or zoned by local municipalities as commercial sites. Typically these addresses are zoned as commercial real estate or are used exclusively for business. Most commercial sites have tractor-trailer access and a loading dock.
Residential - If the address used a residence, select this option. This includes Apartment/Condo complexes and dormitories.
Residential Business - Any business being operated from a home, apartment, or other dwelling where people live on the premises is considered to be a Residential Business.
Limited Access - Locations where deliveries are restricted, limited, or very far from a distribution center. Examples Include:
Place of Worship
Restricted Areas - Secure Research Facilities, Military Bases/Installations, Correctional Facilities, Government Buildings
Farms, Ranches, and Rural Areas
Recreational Areas - Camps, Parks, Fairs, Carnivals, etc.
Individual Storage Units
Sites - Convention Centers, Construction Sites, Mines
Schools and Universities
Commercial establishments not open to the walk-in public during normal business hours
A liftgate is a hydraulic lift that is attached to the back of a truck that can lower freight to ground level. Freight carriers prevent their drivers from assisting with the unloading of heavy equipment other than using a liftgate to ground level. We highly recommend any delivery address without a loading dock, select this option.
However, please know that for certain very long items, such as Kennels over 6' in length, a Liftgate will not be able to bring the entire order down to ground level. Please have the necessary manpower available to receive your items with limited delay to the driver.
+ Looks better than other dog doors
+ The saloon door style makes it relatively quiet while keeping a good seel against temperatures and wind
+ Both dogs quickly learned how to use it (maybe due to being and the see the other side of the dog door
+ The ability to lock it shut is nice
- The plate is a nice idea, but a design that just had thumb screws to attach it would be better.
I can't comment on the installation process, because it was installed by the company we bought new doors from.
this is my third one, have had the other two for more than 10 years with 10 yorkies continously coming and going
Happy with purchase
Pros: Very sturdy, unique design, much more attractive than traditional dog doors. Worked great for a basement door down steps because required less clearance for the saloon doors than traditional flap style. Love the security plate on rails.
Cons: Price, Hard to install in older door. Best for newer smooth bottomed doors- took some work to install in an old (thinner than 1 3/4 inch) door with panels. Required building a frame around it on both sides but now that it is in looks great!
Haven’t yet installed this door but have one just like it and it works wonderfully. It has held up better than any other type of pet door and has been easier to teach the dogs to use. I would recommend it to anyone considering a pet door
Worth the $$$
I bought the Large door for our Doberman.
I installed in the wall & built my own tunnel.....
Install was about 90 min. Well worth the $$, keeps the cold out
